Social Action

Hunger is a pervasive and pernicious social malady. Beth El’s social action activities are predominantly fueled by a passion for alleviating hunger in our community. Each year, we hold an Interfaith Progressive Dinner which is a fundraiser for the food pantry. We collect and donate many hundreds of pounds of food and provide a steady stream of non-perishables to the Southbury Food Bank and the Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministry’s Soup Kitchen.
Baking with Love
In addition, we have baked and delivered dozens of pumpkin pies for the holidays, and our GEMACH Caring committee baked hundreds of hamentashen that were hand-carried to shut-in by the JFS chaplain.
Food pantry fund challenge
The Sunny Davids Food Pantry Fund was established to accept donations for distribution to local food banks. In addition, Beth El maintains a continual non-perishables collection that is distributed to local food pantries.
